WILD
KENYA
IT'S MAGIC, ABSOLUTE MAGIC!

TOUR OVERVIEW

DATES: 24th to 31st May 2026

The Outback Experience presents a comprehensive tour like never before to Kenya’s best wildlife hotspots – Amboseli and the Maasai Mara. We guarantee it! This brilliant wildlife photography adventure is surely what dreams are made of.

We will be staying at the most amazing locations in both parks, and will have access to stunning wildlife encounters. Guaranteed!

Amboseli National Park:

Amboseli is a photographers dream! The park is most famous for being the best place in the world to get really close to wild African elephants. The park also has stunning views of Mount Kilimanjaro, the highest free-standing mountain in the world, and our mission during the two full day safaris, is to have some of Amboseli’s wildlife wonders serve as a stunning foreground to Mount Kilimanjaro.

Masai Mara National Reserve:

Easily, the world’s most famous wildlife reserve, Masai Mara is a dream destination for any wildlife lover. Encompassing an area of 1510 km², the Masai Mara is nestled within the enormous Great Rift Valley and lies at the bottom of the Siria Escarpment. The terrain of the reserve is primarily open grassland, with seasonal rivulets.

The Masai Mara is perhaps most famous for its abundance of Africa’s “Big Five”, especially lions. The population of cheetahs is also high, however the black rhinoceros is severely threatened, with a population of only 40 recorded. Hippopotamuses are found in large groups in the Mara and Talek Rivers. Numerous antelope are also seen, including Thomson’s and Grant’s gazelle, impala, topi and Coke’s hartebeest. Large herds of zebra can also be found throughout the reserve. The plains are also home to the distinctive Masai Giraffe and there are good sightings of the large Roan antelope and the nocturnal bat-eared fox, usually a difficult sighting in other parts of Kenya. Additionally, over 450 species of birdlife have been identified in the park, including vultures, marabou stork, secretary bird, ground hornbill, crowned crane, ostrich, long-crested Eagle, and African pygmy-falcon.

So what are you waiting for? It’s time for Africa!

DAY 1: 24th May — Transfer from Nairobi to Amboseli (By Road)

Upon arrival in Nairobi, you’ll be picked up from the airport or your hotel, and we’ll begin our scenic drive to Amboseli National Park. Along the way, enjoy classic views of the African savannah and perhaps even your first glimpse of wildlife.

After checking in to our beautiful lodge at the foot of Mount Kilimanjaro, we head out for our first evening safari. It’s a perfect introduction to Amboseli’s stunning landscapes and iconic elephant herds. We return to camp, unwind over dinner, and settle in for the night.

DAYS 2 & 3: 25th & 26th May — Full Days of Safari in Amboseli

We spend two full days exploring Amboseli, home to some of Africa’s most spectacular elephant encounters. Morning and evening game drives will be our main focus, allowing you to make the most of the golden hours of light and animal activity.

Phillip will work with you in the field and back at camp to enhance your photography skills. From elegant giraffes to vibrant birdlife and dramatic Kilimanjaro backdrops, Amboseli offers countless opportunities to build a rich portfolio.

Evenings are reserved for relaxing meals under the stars and engaging presentations on photography and natural history.

DAY 4: 27th May — Fly from Amboseli to Maasai Mara

This morning, we check out and take a scenic charter flight from Amboseli directly to the famed Maasai Mara (via Wilson, Nairobi). Upon landing, we’re transferred to our beautifully located camp and enjoy a relaxed lunch before heading out for our first evening safari in the Mara.

With open grasslands teeming with wildlife and dramatic skies, the Mara welcomes us with a world of photographic possibilities.

DAYS 5, 6 & 7: 28th to 30th May — Big Cat Paradise in Maasai Mara

These three full days will be all about immersing ourselves in the wild heart of Africa. We head out on morning and afternoon safaris, tracking the Mara’s celebrated big cats—lions, leopards, and cheetahs—and the diverse wildlife that share their domain.

We’ll carry packed breakfasts to allow longer hours in the field, giving us the best chances for unforgettable moments in the best light. Evening sessions will explore creative photography techniques—silhouettes, backlighting, and storytelling through composition.

Back at camp, Phillip will continue to offer valuable insights and learning through image reviews and presentations.

DAY 8: 31st May — Nature Walk & Transfer to Nairobi (By Road)

Our final morning begins with a birdwatching and nature walk around the camp—a quieter, more intimate experience of the Mara’s ecosystem.

After breakfast, we begin our return journey to Nairobi by road, driving through the dramatic Great Rift Valley. We’ll stop for lunch en route (at your own cost), and upon reaching Nairobi, you’ll be transferred either to the airport or your hotel (booked separately at an additional cost).

As you head home, you’ll carry with you a lifetime of memories, powerful images, and a deep connection to the African wild.
