WORKSHOP AGENDA

Dates: 4th to 5th May, 2024

DAY 1:

Arrive at the pickup point in Bangalore at 8 a.m, and once all participants  have assembled, we’ll depart in pre-arranged transport for the hour-long journey to The Outback Farm and Homestay in Bannerghatta. Your child’s best classroom ever, we guarantee!

On reaching the gorgeous campsite, all participants will be welcomed with a refreshing drink and allowed to check-in.

After a brief introduction and ice-breaking session, the workshop will officially commence. Phillip will hold a session introducing digital photography to help your child understand basics such as advanced photography concepts, as well as refresh each participants knowledge on basic camera settings.

Once we have a good grasp of the basics, Phillip will introduce Time Lapse Photography. We we learn how to take some amazing time lapses of several scenarios, and Phillip will also teach the participants how to stitch the time lapses with software. Once we finish the session on time-lapse, we give in to the smells from the kitchen and gorge on a delicious lunch.

After lunch, Phillip will now introduce panning and zoom-bursts. These two cool techniques will bring out the creativity in your child’s imagery and lead them past those ”run of the mill” images that they were earlier used to.

It’s now time to learn and master landscape photography! Phillip will lead the children on a beautiful trek to a nearby hill to practice what they’ve learnt so far, and also master the art of landscape photography.  The top of the hill is a perfect place to learn and master exposure compensation and metering. If we are very lucky, we could come across some wildlife, too.

We’ll then return to the campsite and relax by the lake while enjoying a snack and a hot beverage.

After freshening up, your child will be taught how to master photographing in the dark with a fun session on low-light and night photography. Your child will love learning about light painting using the bulb mode, and they will also learn about star-trail photography.

Over a scrumptious dinner, we will celebrate the fact that your child can now look through their cameras viewfinder with considerably more experience than before.

Just before bedtime, we’ll gather around the campfire and Phillip will show your child some of his finest images and talk to them about composition, thus ending a fun-filled day of learning about advanced photography concepts.

DAY 2:

We awake to the sweet calls of the birds found within the campsite and walk out of our rooms to watch the mist rising over the lake and the sun rays lighting up the surrounding forests.

It’s back to photography! Phillip will first bring everyone up to speed by summarising the previous day’s lessons before introducing the wonderful world of Bird Photography. Each participant is assured of many stunning images of the various species of birds that visit the bird bath at the bird hide. Phillip will provide each participant with tips and insights on how to capture the perfect shot.

After a hearty breakfast, it’s time for a topic that everyone finds quite fascinating – creative nature photography & mastering depth of field. Your child will learn about the various aspects that influence depth of field and learn how to create images with a shallow or deep depth of field.

This immersive workshop will end with a fun photography game and competition.

Everyone’s doubts will be cleared with a question-and-answer session and then we’ll check out and leave in pre-arranged transport and return to the city with enough knowledge to start making some amazing imagery.

He or she must have prior knowledge of basic camera settings, and must have completed a basics of photography course. If your child is a newbie to photography, then we recommend to do our basics – Kids Photography Workshop first.

My child is older or younger than 12 and 16. Can an exception be made?

The age group of the children has been carefully chosen keeping in mind the content and style of delivery. However, if your child is outside the age group and you’re interested in admitting him or her, please talk to us.

How do I make the payment?

We have multiple payment options available from which you may choose one as per your convenience. Details will be shared when we receive your enquiry.

How many participants can be expected to attend?

A maximum of 12 children are expected. The Outback Experience’s USP is to provide as much individual attention and quality time to each participant as possible and thus the workshop strength has been kept low. We do not cater to very large groups per batch!

Where are we staying and what sort of accommodation and food can we expect?

We will be staying at The Outback Farm & Homestay in Bannerghatta. The farm & homestay is situated right on the periphery of the park and overlooks the jungle. All participants will be staying in ultra-luxurious and well furnished rooms or tents. The food served is a delicious buffet spread of local, Indian and Anglo-Indian delicacies.

What are the requisites for the Workshop?

Bringing your own camera is strongly recommended, since we’ll have practical exercises for all the discussed topics. This camera should ideally be a Digital SLR (DSLR) or a Mirrorless Camera, to make the most out of the workshop. In case you do not have a DSLR or Mirrorless camera, we can help you hire a camera for the workshop.

Will my child be safe during the workshop?

Don’t worry at all! Your child’s safety is of paramount importance to us. The workshop instructor is well trained with regards to child protection and health and safety.
