Workshop Timings: 10 AM to 5 PM on both days.

DAY 1: Saturday, 9th March, 2024

On arrival at the venue, workshop instructor Sam Ross will welcome all participants and will present an introduction to digital photography to help you understand the basics such as camera formats, megapixels, understanding your camera body, lenses, focal length and camera accessories.

Once you have a good grasp of the basics, Sam will turn to the core aspect of photography – EXPOSURE. We will briefly discuss the exposure triangle and exposure program modes before lunch.

After lunch, Sam will help you master Aperture, Shutter, ISO and Exposure Compensation using the various program modes such as Manual, Aperture priority and Shutter priority. You will certainly have a better grasp of and feel more confident with your cameras after this session.

It’s practice time, and Sam will lead all participants into the venue’s beautiful garden to practice what you’ve learned so far during the workshop. The garden is a perfect place to try out exposure compensation.

We end day one of the workshop with some invaluable tips and tricks.

DAY 2: Sunday, 10th March, 2024

On day two, Sam will first bring everyone up to speed by summarising the previous day’s sessions before we begin to learn all there is to know about focussing, where Sam will provide instruction on manual focus, autofocus, autofocus points and focus modes.

After a great time, it’s time for a topic that everyone finds quite fascinating – depth of field (DOF). You will learn about the various aspects that influence depth of field and learn how to capture images with a shallow or deep depth of field.

You will now be taught how to master photography in the dark with a fun session on low-light and night photography. Using the bulb mode, you will love learning about light painting and all that it needs to take to practice star trail photography, lightning photography etc.

Sam will now present some of The Outback Experience’s finest images and talk about composition, and help you showcase your work a lot more efficiently.

As the workshop winds to a close, Sam will help you understand topics such as sharpness, image stabilization, white balance, using filters, best practices of photography, cleaning and maintenance and buying equipment.

She will clear everyone’s doubts with a question-and-answer session and a final rendezvous before bidding adieu.

(Please note, on both days, we will take an hour-long break for lunch and you may go to any of the restaurants close by or bring your lunch)
