The Best Wildlife Photography Competition for Kids, Teens & Young Adults

Welcome to Season 3 of The Outback Experience’s photography competition.

#theoutbackphotocontest2021 is a wildlife photography contest organised to offer a platform for young creative minds to showcase their talent to the world.

This year, we have 2 categories, one is for kids & teens between the ages of 10 to 17 and the other is for young adults between the ages of 18 to 25.

The total prize money for all categories and awards is INR 45,000/- 

  • Outback “Young Adults” photographer of the Year – INR 10,000/-
  • Outback “Kids & Teens” photographer of the Year – INR 10,000/-
  • Each theme winner for each category – INR 2,500/- per theme winner

2021 “SEASON 3” JUDGE

Giri Cavale

Giri Cavale is a wildlife photographer, mentor, naturalist, entrepreneur and filmmaker.

Known for his mercurial senses that aid him in discerning and documenting exceptional experiences in the wild, Giri is a storyteller who believes in the poetry of pixels, whether still or moving.

His seasoned expertise and unfaltering instinct as a natural history expert, combined with his conscientious passion for teaching wildlife photography, have made Giri one of India’s most versatile wildlife documentarians.

Giri’s love for wildlife was instilled in him at a tender age. While his evocative art featuring elusive cats of the wild remains his dearest love, his passion for all wild-beings has an enduring history to it. He was that wide-eyed boy who spent hours watching anything from a butterfly to a bird, a lizard to a mammal.

GENERAL GUIDELINES

  1. The competition begins on 1st April 2021 and will be open until midnight on the 15th May 2021.
  2. The results of the competition will be announced by 25th May 2021 on the official social media pages of The Outback Experience.
  3. This year, we have 2 categories, based on the age group of the participants.
  4. There are 5 “wildlife themes” this year.
  5. A registration fee of INR 500/-  is applicable to participate in the competition.
  6. You may upload a maximum of 5 images across all themes. You can upload more than one image per theme if required, but upto a maximum of 5 images in total.

TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS

  1. Photographs that are uploaded must have been taken in the last 5 years. 
  2. Each photograph must be saved in JPEG format and must be lesser than 3MB in size. 
  3. Maximum resolution on the longer side, 2048 pixels at 72 dpi.
  4. Photographs with photographers names on the image, borders and frames will not be considered for judging.
  5. Cropping is allowed as long as the original message/content of the photograph is not altered drastically.
  6. Basic re-touching (brightness, saturation, sharpening, contrast, and white balance correction) of the image is acceptable as long as the photograph retains its original form. If an image appears drastically altered, the participant will be required to produce the RAW file. All information regarding the post-processing of the image must be shared on request.
  7. If the image was not shot in RAW format, the original, unprocessed JPEG file will need to be shared.
  8. All images must be saved using the following format: Name of Photographer_Theme_Caption. For example: Phillip Ross_Mammals_TigerDrinkingWater or GiriCavale_TheMacroWorld_MalabarPitViper
